Ancient Buildings of the World
Initiated by Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD, theColiseum, (the Flavian Amphitheatre), located in Rome, took 8 years to build. Built on a flat area in a valley, this 189 meters long, 156 meters wide elliptical amphitheatre was completed by the emperor’s son Titus. It was further improved by the third son Emperor Domitian.
